Why Is Jason Hibbs Wearing Pink?
In American culture, the color pink is normally reserved for baby blankets and teenagers’ toenails. But in October, it’s also sported by “real men” throughout the country…like our very own Vice President, Jason Hibbs who you will see wearing pink this month.
The American Cancer Society (ACS) sponsors the Real Men Wear Pink campaign every year to help boost awareness for breast cancer and raise money for innovative research, patient services, education, and risk reduction. It also uses the campaign to help men take a leadership role in the fight against breast cancer.
The campaign’s rules are simple:
- Wear pink throughout the month of October
- Raise awareness of breast cancer through social media networks
- Raise a minimum of $2,500 to help the ACS fight breast cancer
This is the first year Jason has donned salmon-colored pants and ties for Real Men Wear Pink, and he says he chose to participate in the 2019 event because he wants to do what he can to help his community.
“Breast cancer affects everyone—it doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman,” he explains. “That’s why I’m stepping up to fight breast cancer with all I have. Since I’m in a position to make a difference within my community, I believe I have an obligation to do so. By raising money and awareness through Real Men Wear Pink, I’m helping to save more lives from breast cancer.”
Consequently, Jason will be wearing pink pants, ties, shirts, and pocket squares to the Hibbs Insurance office throughout October. He says he even bought a pair of pink shoes for the occasion! We’ll periodically post pictures of his fancy outfits on social media with reminders to give toward the cause through his campaign page.
We’re so proud of Jason and his heart to help others! Throughout this month, we hope you’ll support his fundraiser; help raise him awareness for breast cancer; and, of course, encourage his bold fashion choices.
