Plan your meals.

It takes a little bit of planning to eat fireside. Think through the number of people you will feed while camping and the equipment you’ll have available for preparing food. You should keep the meals simple and shop a day or two before you leave so your ingredients stay fresh.

 

Dress appropriately.

You don’t want to spend your trip cold and miserable, so check the weather and bring the right clothes. Layers are always a good idea, so bring some t-shirts along with warm sweaters and pullovers. You should also cover your bases with a raincoat and maybe a swimsuit.

 

Camp close to home.

A camping trip requires a lot of planning, which can cause quite a bit of stress. If you’re new to the activity, consider finding a spot close to home.
